▸Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. The image is decoded and recompressed entirely inside your browser using the canvas API — the file never leaves your device, which makes it safe for private photos and work files.
▸How much smaller will my image get?
It depends on the source and the quality slider. Photos re-encoded as JPEG at 60–70% quality typically shrink 50–90%, while already-optimized images may barely shrink — the tool always shows the exact result size before you download.
▸Why does a PNG with transparency turn white as JPEG?
JPEG has no transparency channel, so transparent areas are filled with white before encoding. If you need to keep transparency, choose WebP as the output format instead.
